Announcing the “Affiliate Marketing Niche Blog Series”

I’ve decided to setup my next affiliate niche web site exclusively as a blog–which is something I’ve never done before–and then keep a journal of my progress here so everyone can follow along! As I work through the process from start to finish, I’m going to post updates on what I did, why I did it, and what the results were. My hope is that this series will serve as a guide to others who might want to try the same thing.
Here’s my initial plan, which is definitely subject to change as I go through the process and adapt to what works and what doesn’t work:
- Find a niche.
- Recon the niche to “get in the heads” of the people within the niche.
- Perform keyword research.
- Register a domain.
- Install and configure a WordPress blog.
- Apply a WordPress theme and tweak it as needed.
- Install and configure helpful WordPress plug-ins.
- Setup logging and analytics.
- Begin the process of posting content to the blog.
- Monetize the blog posts with AdSense, eBay listings, Amazon listings, or other niche appropriate affiliate links.
- Submit the web site to Google, Yahoo, and Windows Live.
- Submit the best blog posts to social bookmark sites.
- Acquire inbound (back) links to both the site root and individual posts/pages.
- Monitor and evaluate the initial success of the site in terms of both traffic and affiliate earnings.
- Take the parts that worked the best and package it into both a checklist and WordPress install package (with plug-ins and themes pre-installed) so that I can setup future niche blog sites qucker.
Wow… when I look at that list, it seems like it should be rather easy, right? 
I honestly have no idea how long this will take, or how many steps aren’t on that list yet, or how much success I’ll have by the time the series is complete…
What I do know is that blogs are a great way to produce and present valuable content to your visitors that’s optimized for both human readers and the search engines. It makes perfect sense to give it a try.
